Happy Wednesday

I was looking at the blogs I like to visit today when I saw a post on making your home beautiful. I really like what this lady wrote.

"Home is where our families are. Where memories are made. Where kids play. Where tears are shed. Where meals are made. Those are the things that matter more than the size of a house or the things that are in it. We make our houses home by being there, living authentically and being warm and inviting to those who visit. We make our house a home by lighting candles at night, wrestling in the living room with our kids, and making messes in the kitchen."

Valentine's Day with 475 of our closest friends

Today was the championship meet for our swim league. Since we have both kids swimming, we had to attend both sessions. Swimming for us went from 7:45 this morning until 5:45 this afternoon. Mike and I are utterly exhausted and I wonder if my butt will ever "wake up" from it's deep sleep! For the afternoon session, this lady packed herself in between me and the railing and reeked of body odor and halitosis. ick. Anywho, the kids did really well and our team took home the championship title!! 16 of us went out to dinner afterwards and waited for a table for an hour and forty-five minutes. I guess that's what we get on Valentine's Day.
I don't think we'll get out of our jammies tomorrow. Hooray for sleeping in! How was your weekend?

the cards are the valentines hannah made for her swim team buddies, and the "flower vases" are nathan's gift to his teacher and her helper.

It's real now

We had high school parent night last night for Hannah. Talk about weird. She brought home a book about 3 inches thick Monday evening, that gave information on course selections. I remember putting a check mark next to the electives I wanted to take and that was that. There are now so many ways to earn your needed credits it's insane. She has been streesing a bit about what honors courses to take or if she wants an IB diploma. Already she's worried about "good" colleges and what she needs to get accepted into one. I'm proud that that's on her mind and she cares about it. I wish she wouldn't stress about it already though. There's so much time for that.
I am stressing, however, not about what courses she should take, but about HER being in HIGH SCHOOL! I know there is so much CRAP that they get hit with during those days, it's making me nervous. I know she'll do a great job handling it, but will I? It's beginning to sink in...

OH! What a BEAUTIFUL morning!

It's a good thing the blogging world doesn't require a voice, because you wouldn't find one left in our house! What a crazy, stressful, exciting, nerve wracking game! We were all on the edge of our seats and at a few points close to vomiting. YAAAY STEELERS!

Fun Weekend

Bet you can't guess what we did Saturday? Okay, I'm sure you can. Swim meet. Moving on to Sunday...
Today was the first day we were able to take the kids up skiing. The weather was beautiful, 34 degrees and sunny! We haven't seen the sun for over a month so that was a nice change. It wasn't too crowded and they got some good runs in. Hannah tried poles for the first time and liked it, and Nathan was all about doing jumps. Hannah had a couple friends that joined her today so she was having fun with them. Being the first time out this year, Nathy got tired by lunch time and so we decided to call it a day. No arguments from me, I had food to prepare for THE football game! Oh we're soooo excited!!!
